Matthew Keaton

Matthew Keaton is a multifaceted artist with a career spanning over two decades in theatre. Born in Chicago and raised in Memphis, Matthew has been immersed in the world of performance since the age of 9, and began his professional journey at 15. He holds a B.A. in Communications, with a minor in Public Speech, from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Matthew’s career has taken him from regional stages to international stages, with notable achievements including his participation in the Broadway National Tour of Motown: The Musical and his acceptance into the prestigious Open Jar Musical Theatre Residency in New York in 2017. His work as a playwright and composer has been showcased at several festivals, such as The Emerging Artist Theatre New Works Festival (now The Spark Theatre Festival), The Evolution Festival at The Center at West Park, The Downtown Urban Arts Festival, and the Black Men Talk Play Festival.
As an educator and mentor, Matthew is passionate about inspiring the next generation of theatre artists, and continues to contribute to the growth of the industry both on and off the stage.
